Janiya Henley is a 2022 graduate of Norfolk State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a concentration in General Broadcasting. As an aspiring filmmaker, Janiya is deeply committed to inspiring change, educating and empowering her community, and creating work that makes a meaningful impact. Her mission is to uplift others and amplify voices that have historically gone unheard through intentional, authentic storytelling.

Through her work, Janiya seeks to illuminate untold narratives, celebrate shared experiences, and spark conversations that lead to progress and transformation. She approaches each project with the goal of informing, inspiring, and leaving a lasting impression.

Janiya joined Theatre and Me and its I.A.G. Program after forming an immediate connection with the organization’s leadership and mission. From her first day assisting with film productions, she recognized a shared dedication to storytelling that extends beyond entertainment—stories designed to inspire, uplift, and drive meaningful change. Through her involvement, Janiya has also had the opportunity to mentor and positively impact children and youth, passing on her knowledge while continuing to grow as a storyteller and collaborator.
